Marine Corporal, Westley Daniel Buczynski Jr., passed away on September 23, 2022, at the age of 20; while stationed at MCB Camp Hanson, in Okinawa, Japan. While in Japan, he ensured all weapons issued to his unit were inventoried, properly maintained, and ready to support any mission or training exercise. Buczynski was a generous and charitable Marine who put others’ needs before his own.
Westley was born on February 15th, 2002, at Bon Secours Hospital, in Grosse Pointe, MI; and from an early age displayed the values of hard work and an enduring dedication to both family and country. He truly was his family’s hero. CPL Buczynski wanted to be a Marine since he was a child. He was a kind and very giving man would help anyone no questions asked. He loved animals and would tell his family stories of a one eyed cat he fed and petted by his high school’s gym.
His father said it’s been more than three years and it’s still just as hard as the first day. His family thinks of him constantly and truly knows that the world was a much better place with him in it.
While attending Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores MI, Westley joined the school’s JROTC, and at the age of 17, signed with the United States Marine Corp. After graduating in 2020, Westley began proudly serving his country as an armorer.
When away from the military, Westley enjoyed spending quality time with his family, who he loved dearly, and who loved him very much and were immensely proud of him. One of the many pastimes he enjoyed was target shooting with his father and younger brother.
Westley is survived by his ever-loving family: parents, Westley Sr., and Andrea (Baldes), sister Amber, brother Niccolas
