Died in a motorcycle accident in Saucier, Mississippi

CM2 Thomas Howard Weber returned to his home in Saucier, Mississippi on Saturday after spending two weeks in training in Rhode Island and posted a message on Facebook that read, Its GREAT to be home. A very short time later, Thomas was killed when the motorcycle he was driving struck a pickup truck that failed to see his oncoming bike.

Thomas was born in Saginaw, Michigan on June 4, 1986 to Keith Weber of Frankenmuth, Michigan and Heidi (Schmidt) Weber of Traverse City, Michigan; both survive him. Thomas attended St. Lorenz Lutheran School and Frankenmuth High School before following in the footsteps of his grandfathers and joining the United States Armed Forces in 2005 as a construction mechanic with the U.S. Navy Seabees.

After completing basic training at the Naval Air Station in Great Lakes, Illinois and advance training in Port Hueneme, California, Thomas began a career that would take him around the globe. He served tours in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan doing what Seabees do best helping others.

In 2007 he was given the opportunity to be a part of the Pacific Partnership, a U.S. Navy humanitarian mission aboard the USS Peleliu bound for the Philippines, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and the Marshall Islands. He also found himself in Spain and Okinawa for a period of time, as well as in Haiti following the massive earthquake in 2010.

Upon his return from Haiti, Tom became an integral part of an elite team of Sailors serving as Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen. As part of this Special Operation Forces unit, he worked diligently maintaining an inventory of small water craft used to support special operations missions worldwide, particularly those of the U.S. Navy SEALs.

As a Seabee he was able to live their Can Do motto to the fullest, but those who knew Tom will tell you that he lived an entire life with that Can Do attitude. He was rarely without a smile, and always gave willingly of his time and energy to help others, but most of all he gave of his heart in a way that most could never understand.

Thomas was greeted at the gates of heaven by his brother, Daniel Patrick Weber, who lost his life in a motorcycle accident on May 13, 2011.
