Staff Sergeant Joshua A. Throckmorton was born in Okinawa, Japan on April 3, 1983 the son of Mark and Tina (Green) Throckmorton. Josh graduated with honors from Battle Creek Central High School in 2001.

He had been stationed in Hohenfels, Germany and was deployed to Afghanistan in April and also had served in Iraq.

He was a soldier doing his job and one who couldn’t wait to get home to enjoy his family. High school staff remembers him as a solid citizen and a young man well liked. He was very respectful and pleasant; and Battle Creek Central High School appreciated his bright spirit.

He was recognized as a strong team player and an individual who would try hard to improve any situation. Joshua Throckmorton was also one of twelve seniors on the 2000 Bearcat football team that started with a 1-3 record but played for the conference championship. He was an undersized football player, but that did not stop him from being one of the leaders of the offensive line. He worked hard at football and is remembered as a really good guy who quietly inspired underclassmen. His persistence and hard work in football is partly credited for the school’s recent undefeated two years.
