United States Army National Guard Sergeant Renita Stevens was born on October 19, 1973. She grew up in Detroit, Michigan, before attending college where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Communications. Renita made the decision to join the Army, where she started her military at Basic Training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina. From there, she deployed to Afghanistan and Germany. Upon returning home, SGT Stevens made the decision to switch to the Army National Guard. Before her National Guard career could develop she found out that she had cancer. On August 25, 2013, SGT Renita Stevens passed away.
